Anna Kuukka
Anna Kuukka (b. 1979) is a multidisciplinary designer and artist working with diverse mediums such as graphics, textiles, painting, and product design. In her artistic work, she explores ways to create understanding of ambiguous, intangible ideas, inviting viewers to linger in the gentle tension between the seen and unseen, the known and imagined, and the material and spiritual realms.
Kuukka’s artworks revolve around the question ‘What makes us human?’, examining the intersections between bodily and mental essence. Her oil paintings carry a sense of physical presence, yet obscure the identity of the subject. The representation leaves the viewer in speculation over the thoughts and sentiments of the sitter, offering reflection points instead of ready-made answers.
